What’s The Vig? was conceived as a mocumentary-style feature comedy with an important difference: there would be no confessional and no narrator, so that this story would be told completely through dialogue and action. We had access to a printing company, and it made sense to set this ultra low budget film where we would be able to control the primary set. The Dawsons came on as co-producers and assembled the crew. Then we held auditions and cast incredible local San Diego actors and set an ambitious shooting schedule of nine weekends. Even though the shoot had many of the problems one might expect – from technical issues to location challenges – there was true teamwork on the set and we wrapped on time. The editing, color correcting, ADR and foley have been a long and arduous process, but the sacrifice of cast and crew has delivered a film with high production value, outstanding performances, and one that we believe is very funny.
