David S. Dawson has had a passion for the arts his whole life. David's mother, a singer, instilled a sense of performance in him early. David's father also nurtured his love of performance with season tickets to The Old Globe Theatre. The energy of performance was intoxicating. It did not take David long to figure out that a regular 9 – 5 existence was not for him. After High School David attended Baylor University in Texas as a Technical Theatre major where he learned the aesthetics of lighting, set design, costuming and color schemes. After two years of study David was accepted as an intern at Vari*Lite in Dallas. The internship lasted a week before David accepted a full-time position at the company, effectively leaving school. For the next 8 years David worked in various capacities in the entertainment world, from lighting to audio to set construction and video production. No job was too small, no experience worth missing. The various disciplines David learned during this time lead him to a place where he was finally ready to decide that filmmaking is his true passion. Armed with 10 years of practical experiences in theatre, concerts and A/V productions David went back to school to finish his studies in Radio/Television Production at Palomar College. While there David earned three Pacific/Southwest Region EMMY Nominations for productions he produced and directed. In 2004 David formed Dawson Digital Productions, Inc. with his family with the purpose of developing, and producing independent films.
